BREAKING LOCAL POLITICAL AND ELECTION NEWS –
in this issue
ROSS VALLEY SANITARY DISTRICT BREAKING NEWS
CHANGE NEEDED IN OUR COURTS
WOOLSEY v NATION ...DUH
MGH v SUTTER who is getting screwed again?

On the street, people are worried about the chance of progressives losing in Marin and surrounding district elections. It doesn’t have to be this way, progressives can win in Marin, but not with out getting out the vote on Tuesday, June 6.
Don’t take the chance of being taken over by right wing agendas here in Marin, don’t chance losing this election to people that don’t represent our interests. VOTE -VOTE - VOTE
Tomorrow is our chance to take back Marin from right wing political hacks, tomorrow is our chance to prevent Marin from going RED. Don’t be fooled by make believe democrats and "the old school republican boy's club POLITICOS" spilling slick and misleading mailers into your mailboxes. Don’t be fooled by out of state phony and false “phone campaigns” paid for by out of district special interests “garbage lobbyists.” Vote your progressive values and you’ll get good representatives. Take the time to vote and get your friends, co-workers and neighbors to vote.
Keep Marin Progressive! Keep our community healthy.

ROSS VALLEY SANITARY DISTRICT NEWS FLASH
Endorsers distancing themselves and fleeing from the three tainted incumbents!
Marin Independent Journal's "UN" endorsement of the dysfunctional buffoon incumbents continues shakeup in the Ross Valley Sanitary District election:
Marin Independent Journal withdraws its endorsement of 3 Ross Valley Sanitary District incumbents! First time in 35 years the IJ has withdrawn their endorsement of political candidates.

“It is easy, after reading the grand jury report, to decide to vote for anybody but the incumbents.” From the Marin IJ Editorial 6/3/06

Vote for Patty Burke and Pat Guasco, demand integrity on our local boards. Don’t be fooled like the IJ was into believing their stories and excuses for failed policies that have caused Federal intervention, damning Grand Jury Report, sewage contamination in our towns and waterways and contempt for public participation and collegial discourse. Vote for democracy, vote for Pat Guasco and Patty Burke. Integrity is a great beginning!
Go to www.patty4pipes.com for more detailed and documented shenanigans of the wily incumbents.

CHANGE NEEDED IN MARIN COURTS
CLIFF MENEKEN is a public interest lawyer challenging a long time appointed Republican Judge. He needs your vote on Tuesday, June 6th, to clean up our Courts and let the People, not the Politicians, decide who is a Judge.
CLIFF has spent his legal career protecting the rights of working men and women and the environment. He will be an independent fair judge, not beholden to developers or corporate interests.
Our Courts have been rocked by scandals, from family-law cronyism, to misuse of hundreds of thousands of Taxpayer dollars. We need a new, independent Judge, someone who understands the Marin community, its environment, families and legal needs.
PLEASE JOIN THE MARIN PEACE AND JUSTICE COALITION, SIERRA CLUB, THE NORTH BAY LABOR COUNCIL, DEMOCRACY FOR AMERICA and the WOMEN'S POLITICAL CAUCUS in voting for Cliff Meneken for Judge, June 6th.

Woolsey v Nation ...DUH
NO COMPARISON
Spread the word about the importance of voting for Lynn Woolsey in tomorrow's election. Forward this e-mail to your friends, family and co-workers in the 6th congressional district and remind them that:
Lynn Woolsey is leading those in Congress pushing for an exit from Iraq.
Lynn Woolsey is a staunch advocate of health care for all.
Lynn Woolsey's "Balancing Act" legislation addresses the challenges today of balancing work and family.
Lynn Woolsey is fighting against lawbreaking by the Bush administration.
Lynn Woolsey is working hard for issues critical to the 6th district like the environment, transportation, seniors and veterans.
Lynn Woolsey is fighting for the rights of all Americans.
Lynn Woolsey has authored dozens of pieces of legislation.
Then, raise the alarm about Joe Nation with your friends, family and co-workers. Here are some key facts:
Joe Nation has taken more than $200,000 in contributions from big insurance and drug companies, as an Assemblyman.
Joe Nation took more than $160,000 from the insurance industry and then opposed legislation that could stop huge increases in people's health insurance co-pays and deductibles (AB 977, 1/30/06).
Joe Nation even opposed having health insurance cover anti-smoking programs that help people quit smoking (SB 576, 9/1/05).
Joe Nation's campaign for Congress has been raising money from people who give large sums to the Republicans. In fact his contributors have given over $1.6 million to the Republican Party, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bush-Cheney and other Republicans.
Joe Nation has a habit of not taking a stand on key legislation—he "takes a walk," by refusing to vote or skipping votes. He refused to vote on privacy legislation to protect consumers. He refused to vote on stem cell legislation. And he refused to vote on legislation to stop oil company price gouging.
Joe Nation says he supports universal health care but is attempting to scuttle State Senator Sheila Kuehl's landmark single payer healthcare bill, which Woolsey supports, by promoting his own bill written with a Southern California Republican.

MGH v Sutter ...who is getting screwed again?
WHAT’S INSIDE THIS “TROJAN HORSE” HOSPITAL DEAL?

at MARIN GENERAL HOSPITAL
Next TUESDAY, June 13, 2006, 7:00 P.M.
at MARIN GENERAL HOSPITAL

Last week in the IJ, an article appeared that you may have interpreted positively as a final resolution regarding Marin General and Sutter. The deal is a SHAM and the residents of Marin are going to pay dearly for it. Please see the note below from Linda Remy containing details about the "deal" and what needs to be done to stop it. (credit/Andy Peri)

Sutter is up to its old tricks again. They think they can roll out a pretty pony of a deal at Marin General Hospital and expect the community to welcome it with open arms .
But if you look inside, what do you find….
1) Sutter abandons its lease obligation for the seismic retrofit of MGH –leaving the taxpayers with a $100 million dollar bill.
2) The deal was “negotiated” by two directors, in secret, with no public input or scrutiny.
3) Sutter gets to walk away with an estimated $200 million in profits from the past 11 years, and no debt.
4) Over the weekend, John Severinghaus said that he'd "have to look into" that $50-80 million he told the IJ the District would receive
5) With all the profits from OUR public Healthcare District over the past decade, Sutter will open their own facility in Southern Marin to match their facility in Northern Marin…part of their strategy to SQUEEZE our Hospital, and the District, in the middle.
6) The bond issue is a ruse! Sutter knows the district can’t afford a bond under this deal. Sutter wins either way: either the district fails to pass the bond and can’t compete on quality without a new wing, or the district succeeds with the bond, and the taxpayers and district get saddled with Hundreds of Millions of Dollars in Debt and no patients!
Sutter has done this before to other districts – It’s How They Operate!
Sutter recently hijacked the Mills-Peninsula Hospital
Sutter recently eliminated St. Luke’s as a competitor in San Francisco,
Now they want to do the same in Marin!
This agreement is bedeviled with a lack of details, a lack of guarantees, and a lack of oversight. The District Subcommittee that secretly negotiated this deal must be told that we will not stand for this Billion Dollar Giveaway!
ASK THE TOUGH QUESTIONS!
MAKE YOUR OPINIONS KNOWN!
TAKE BACK OUR HEALTHCARE FUTURE!

SUTTER…They saddle us with $100 million in seismic debt, rob us of our patient customer base, steal $200 million in a decade’s worth of profits, and then they expect us to pass a $380 million bond, with another $380 million in interest?
STOP the Billion Dollar Giveaway!
